Dare2Help...

...aims at providing rehabilitation efforts to typhoon (Ondoy, Pepeng, Ramil, Santi) victims through rebuilding public school libraries with the help of AHON Foundation. We aim at reaching half a million pesos with your help. No, we won't ask you for money upfront. (1.) We'll ask you to dare us first. (2.) Then we do the dare, videotape it and upload it to YouTube for everyone to know how far we'd go for half a million pesos. (3.) Then we ask you for money (because you got what you asked for). Dare Us!

11.20.2009

ONE MONTH after Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) hit the Philippines, the news still buzzes about our kababayans whose lives were stricken by the floods. One month after, yet countless Filipinos still haven't gotten back on their feet. One month after, and things are still far from normal.

Still, one month after, the drive to help, to move, to act, is still lodged in our craniums. So here we are, a bunch of currently un[der]employed (sa Tagalog, tambay) kids, itching to do something, ANYTHING, to help, but with just enough time and money for ourselves. What exactly CAN we do? So we scratched our heads, did a few noodle dances, and came up with..

THIS. To do your craziest dares (and at the same time, have loads of insane fun as we make complete fools of ourselves) in exchange for any amount you may be willing to offer in exchange. Help us raise HALF A MILLION PESOS to give to our kababayans. All the funds raised will be go to the Acts of Hope for  the Nation (AHON) Foundation, an organization which would allocate the money to rebuilding the public schools
ruined by the recent typhoons.  By daring to help, you become part of securing the future of countless children.

HOW can you dare to help? There are THREE ways:
  1. Pledge or donate! Keep those dares a-coming and couple it up with a pledge for each. You can EMAIL (dare.and.help@gmail.com) or TEXT us your dare/s, the amount that you will give if we accomplish the task, and your name and contact details (which will be kept confidential). As proof of completion for each dare, photos and videos of the performance of the dare will be posted on this blog, YouTube, and Facebook. Details on how to transfer the pledges will be emailed/texted to you once the dare has been accomplished. If you are fresh out of ideas for new dares, you may want to check videos of earlier dares and donate any amount which you feel correspond to the tasks already completed.
  2. Do a dare! Take on the challenge and join our community of daredevils. You may EMAIL (dare.and.help@gmail.com) us about your intentions, after which you will be given the chance to choose your task from a list of dares in queue. The team will have the prerogative of not allowing certain dares to be performed if the risk of personal harm to the daredevil is present, if the dares are offensive, and if there are laws against such actions. The documentation team must be present during the performance of each dare.
  3. Tell people about us!

We promise to do your dare provided that:
  1. It does not involve acts which are sexually offensive in nature.
  2. It does not involve acts that REQUIRE harming the daredevil and/or other people. (RISK is a given, but there are always reasonable limits. Adrenalin junkie material is very welcome. There's a difference between facing risks and being required to harm people.)
  3. It does not involve acts which violate common ethics and moral values.
  4. You pay up after! [Or else.. heee]
Here's a hint: You may want to target common fears. Heights. Bugs. Dark places. Public exposure. We've called ourselves daredevils, and we intend to live up to that name.. so DARE us. Remember, it'll cost you though. Great deeds come at great prices. We'd be scared out of our wits, but we'd do it anyway.. for a cost, and ultimately, FOR A CAUSE.
